Flight Attendants At
Continental Micronesia Reach Tentative Agreement
Washington, DC - The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA)
at Continental Micronesia reached a tentative agreement today
with United Continental Holdings, Inc., covering the carrier’s
over 275 Flight Attendants. The agreement extends the current
contract to 2014 and provides improvements to job security,
flexibility, and economic growth.
“This is a big step forward,” said Suzanne Hendricks, AFA
President at Continental Micronesia. “Our AFA negotiations team
has worked diligently to reach an agreement that keeps in tact
the items most important to Flight Attendants – while still
including a pay raise and other benefits. Upon ratification, we
look forward to moving into joint contract negotiations that
will complete the epic merger of three carriers which will make
us the largest airline in the world.”
The agreement, approved by union leadership, now goes to the
membership for ratification. Upon successful ratification of the
agreement, AFA Continental Micronesia will immediately begin
working to bring the three United subsidiary AFA Flight
Attendant groups under a single contract.
The Association of Flight Attendants is the world’s largest
Flight Attendant union. Focused 100 percent on Flight Attendant
issues, AFA has been the leader in advancing the Flight
Attendant profession for over 65 years. Serving as the voice for
Flight Attendants in the workplace, in the aviation industry, in
the media and on Capitol Hill, AFA has transformed the Flight
Attendant profession by raising wages, benefits and working
conditions. Nearly 60,000 Flight Attendants at 21 airlines come
together to form AFA, part of the 700,000-member strong
Communications Workers of America (CWA), AFL-CIO. Visit us at
